"I think it was really good for the mayor and council to see there was a need for a change and award us the opportunity," said Kim Bogosian, a freelance web designer who submitted a bid for the contract back in January.
Bogosian also had help from her husband James, an engineer at Google.
The new website, which went live March 15, offers Rutherfordians an easier way to find valuable information, Bogosian told Daily Voice.
Among the new features are DPW forms that can be submitted to request special trash pickup or pothole repair. Event calendars for the Recreation Department, Mayor & Council, library and Board of Education are also available on a single page.
"At a glance you can see everything going on in town," Bogosian said.
Other additions include Google Maps integration for zoning purposes, and a catalog of Recreation Department activities divided by season.
More features will be added to the site as it grows, Bogosian said, adding that the initial feedback has been positive.
"I've been getting overwhelmingly positive reviews," Bogosian said. "People really love it."
